BIO
Kseniia Nelasova is an academically trained artist living and working in Miami, USA.
From an early age, her life was deeply connected to art: ballet, music, and studying at an art school in the Ural city of Perm shaped her creative vision. After finishing school, she struggled to choose between literature and art, leading to a challenging journey of self-discovery.
In 1995, she became a mother, and her dreams of higher education had to be put on hold.
In 1998, Ksenia moved to Saint Petersburg—the city of her dreams. Despite difficult times, she successfully enrolled at the Academy of Decorative Arts named after Mukhina, where she studied drawing, painting, contemporary art, fiber techniques, and art history. In 2007, she defended her diploma project and earned a Master's degree.
For many years, Ksenia balanced artistic work, teaching, and motherhood. Nevertheless, art remained her greatest passion and calling.
Since 2017, she has been living and working in Florida, USA. She actively participates in both local and international exhibitions, and her works are in private collections in the USA, Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Germany, and Russia.
Today, Ksenia continues to explore new forms of artistic expression, blending traditional and contemporary techniques. She not only creates her own works but also shares her knowledge and inspiration with a wide audience as both an artist and a teacher.
ARTIST STATEMENT
"A samurai has no goal, only a Path." — Miyamoto Musashi
Art is a vital necessity for me - it is my way of understanding the world, self-identification, self-expression, and reflection. When I create, I enter into a dialogue with the world through my art. It is my personal spiritual practice, which inevitably leads to creativity and changes of both my inner and outer worlds.
Living and working in the era of Metamodernism, I use its codes to create my imaginary worlds. In these worlds, I explore inner processes and transformations by rethinking universal values and human relationships through my perception of reality.
My paintings and objects are a way of searching for images and forms to reflect the inner world in the outer. By including characters inspired by religious and mythological art or sacred themes, I create a dialogue between the past and the present, forming new narratives. By turning to archetypes in my work, I make my paintings understandable to all people because my visual language speaks directly to the collective unconscious. Using intuitively familiar images, I place them in unusual contexts, revealing new meanings.
Believing that art can change human consciousness, I address the viewer’s perception directly, inviting them to engage in dialogue and co-creation—not only in the realm of ideas but also in real life.
In a world that is changing rapidly, I see myself as a visionary artist. Through my work, I reflect the tectonic shifts in the foundations of meaning within the collective unconscious, using my medium and unique vision.
Inspired by the experience and philosophy of the Impressionists and using the technique of Pointillism, I create artistic spaces designed to evoke a therapeutic effect through catharsis and reflection.
Using traditional materials such as canvas, oil paint, wool, and silk, I invite the viewer to explore the possibilities of the subconscious, to build a dialogue with their inner self, and to find new connections with themselves, nature, and the Absolute.
